Photo Dimensions

Philippine passport photos must be 35 mm wide x 45 mm tall (1.38 x 1.77 inches). For online appointment bookings through the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs), digital photos should be 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI.

Background Requirements

The background must be pure white. The DFA strictly enforces this requirement. No patterns, shadows, or colour tints are permitted. The background must provide clear contrast with the subject.

Face and Expression

A neutral expression with closed mouth is required. Both eyes must be open and clearly visible, looking directly at the camera. The face must be centred in the frame with the head taking up 70-80% of the photo height. No tilting or turning of the head.

Glasses

Glasses are not allowed in Philippine passport photos. The DFA requires all eyewear to be removed, including prescription glasses, tinted lenses, and contact lenses that alter eye appearance.

Head Coverings
